The KwaZulu-Natal South African Local Government Association’s (SALGA) chairperson, Thami Ntuli says municipalities must not be forced to use one source of energy.
Ntuli has been addressing the media on the sideline of the local government association’s Provincial members assembly in Empangeni.
The country is moving away from the use of coal to supply electricity, instead, the government has introduced the use of Independent Power Producers.
Ntuli says forcing municipalities to use only renewable energy to produce electricity is not a good idea.
