The South African Police Service’s Shadrack Sibiya has dismissed allegations of a leaked crime intelligence report which suggested that the recent spate of arson attacks targeting haulage trucks is linked to the All Truck Drivers Forum and Allied SA and Operation Dudula.
These organisations have been fighting the employment of foreign nationals in the transport sector.
Deputy national police commissioner responsible for crime detection, Shadrack Sibiya’s comment comes after the City Press reported on the leaked document which alleges that the attackers want the removal of all foreign truck drivers as well as a 15% pay hike.
Sibiya says there is no truth about the leaked document adding that it is not even close to the truth.
Speaking to NewzRoom Afrika Sibiya says as the police they know the people they have arrested and none of them are members of the Forums.
