ANC secretary general Ace Magashule is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court today.

Magashule is accused of maladministration relating to a tender of R255 million while he was Premier in the Free State. He is also accused of failing to report corrupt dealing while he was the Premier.

Speaking about this appearance during a press briefing earlier this week, ANC Deputy Secretary Jessie Duarte had said Magashule urges members of the party not to march and protest in his name.

However ANC supporters in full party regalia have been protesting outside court, burning party t-shirts, calling for ANC President, Cyril Ramaphosa to resign.

The MKMVA says that there are internal forces within the party who want to get rid of Magashule.

MKMVA Spokesperson Carl Niehaus says they will support the SG and it’s a pity that many other individuals were also implicated at the State Capture Commission yet they are not subjected to this.

ANC NEC Member Tony Yengeni, Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality mayor Mzwandile Masina, Former chairperson of the ANC in the Northwest, Supra Mahumapelo, Former finance minister Malusi Gigaba are among Magashule’s supporters in court.
