Calm has been restored at Umlazi’s Comtech High School in KwaZulu-Natal.
This after disputes erupted over some teachers who were being transferred.
According to the KZN Education Department a decision was taken to move around 20 surplus educators to other schools, but the group demanded a rerun of the process that declared them a surplus.
Spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi says the teachers disrupted classes, occupied the principal’s office and camped at the gate – prompting a protest by parents over the disturbance.
