The National Taxi Alliance (NTA) says taxi owners will be forced to increase fares following the recent fuel hike.
The price of petrol went up by over two-rand a litre, and diesel by more than one-rand.
N-T-A spokesperson Theo Malele says fuel increases place more pressure on their members, making it difficult for many taxi owners to pay monthly instalments on their vehicles.
Malele called on taxi associations to be mindful of commuters as they plan to increase fares over the next few weeks.
