There has been a significant increase in the number of domestic violence cases being reported at South African police stations.
This was revealed by the Commission for Gender Equality in its report on the readiness of the police to deal with gender-based violence.
The commission visited stations, areas classified as hotspots, and facilities for GBV survivors to conduct the study.
Acting chairperson of the commission, Nthabiseng Moleko, says the report found that many reported GBV cases fall away due to the lengthy court processes.
