The Commission for Gender Equality says it is concerned by the increasing numbers of intimate partner killings in the country.
This comes after a nurse was murdered by her policeman boyfriend at the Tembisa Hospital in Gauteng.
The commission’s spokesperson Javu Baloyi says this Tembisa township is a known gender-based violence hotspot.
He adds that this places a great obligation and duty on the part of the law enforcement and security authorities to increase vigilance and heighten security around public facilities.
