Household Burglaries Surge by 12% in South Africa, Home Robberies See Slight Decline.

Statistics South Africa’s recent report on the 2023-24 Victims of Crime highlights some concerning trends.
The report, presented by statistician-general Risenga Maluleke, shows that 2.6 million households experienced housebreaking or burglary over the past five years, marking a 12% increase from the previous 2.3 million.
On the other hand, home robberies slightly decreased by 1%, affecting 459,000 households.
The report also revealed that 257,000 households reported incidents of assault during the same period.
