State Security DG Testifies on the Misuse of Funds at the Agency

Acting Director General of the State Security Agency, Loyiso Jafta says money and resources at the agency were abused to the benefit of certain top individuals in the country and the ruling party.

Jafta had been giving testimony at the State Capture commission of inquiry after its chair Raymond Zondo dismissed an application by State Security Minister Ayanda Dlodlo to postpone Jafta’s testimony.

Going down memory lane, Jafta has recalled several incidences that link Former President Jacob Zuma to the abuse of power and state funds.

He has testified that in 2014, Zuma’s wife MaNtuli, was held by the intelligence against her will and forced to take a lie detector test after she was accused of poisoning him, a charge the National Prosecuting Authority later decided not to pursue.

Jafta says these are just a few of many other cases he witnessed under Zuma’s administration.

The commission also heard that the law and constitution were invalid and optional at the State Security Agency, as anyone could do as they pleased without authority to account to.

Jafte adds that there were projects that were executed especially to fund and enhance political activities of the ANC.

He says no one was held to account for the misuse of funds.
