President, Cyril Ramaphosa, has avoided answering a question about whether he supports the corruption accused former eThekwini mayor, Zandile Gumede, being appointed to the provincial legislature.
The DA’s, John Steenhuisen, had asked Ramaphosa during a question and answer session in Parliament, if he backs the appointment.
Gumede is currently out on R50 000 bail for her alleged role in a Durban Solid Waste tender scandal amounting to over R400 million.
She was appointed to the provincial legislature last week, and was this week appointed to the Cogta committee, meaning she will have a say in how local government is run.
