Proteas test captain Temba Bavuma says his side will draw inspiration from the Momentum Proteas for their on-going 2-match test series against West Indies. Bavuma spoke at the Proteas pre-match press conference just a day after the Momentum Proteas suffered a heart breaking 19 runs defeat to Australia in the final of the ICC womens T20 World Cup.
The Momentum Proteas achieved what no other senior Cricket team, men or women, in South Africa had done before by reaching the final of an ICC showpiece event. It was a spirited campaign by Hilton Moreeng’s team as they recovered from their opening match loss to Sri Lanka, to finish second in their group and overcome the massive hurdle in the form of England in the Semi Finals. The Australian test proved to be too much for the South Africans.
The Mens Proteas team is winless in their last 5 test matches, as they usher in a new era with Shukri Conrad and Temba Bavuma at the forefront of the Red ball team. The Langa born Bavuma says the Proteas men’s team is always looking for areas to draw inspiration from, and the Momentum Proteas’ latest win is the best source of inspiration for them at present.
