The PSA says any salary cuts could be disastrous

The DA’s interim leader, John Steenhuisen, says the emergency budget presented by Finance minister, Tito Mboweni, tomorrow must tackle the low growth percentage and the high percentage of debt.
Steenhuisen proposes that no bailouts be made available anymore and that the government should keep to the 160-billion-rand cut in public service salaries.

Meanwhile, the Public Servants’ Association says its members are on the front line of the fight against Covid-19 and any plans to cut their salaries could result in a disaster.
Government is expected to cut its wage bill when Mboweni delivers his emergency budget.
PSA spokesperson, Reuben Maleka, says the government should rather focus on the money lost through mismanagement.
