Irvin Jim, the general secretary of National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) says those who want to challenge the Union’s congress must go to court.
He’s been speaking at the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa’s 11th National Congress in Cape Town.
The union’s second deputy president and Saftu president Ruth Ntlokotse and 30 other suspended officials successfully challenged their suspensions at the Labour Court in Johannesburg last week.
Yesterday, Numsa’s special central committee resolved to appeal the Labour Court’s interdict against the union’s controversial congress this week, …. and decided that the event would proceed.
Jim insists that they have complied with the court order that interdicted the congress.
