The Road Freight Association is calling on the government to address the blockading of trucks on the N2 near oPhongolo north of KwaZulu-Natal.

The local community has blockaded the road demanding authorities to monitor the movements of heavy-duty vehicles in the town.

This comes after 18 children, a teacher’s assistant, and a bakkie driver died when a truck collided with a bakkie carrying school children in the area last year.

The association’s, Gavin Kelly, says government must take action against non-compliant trucking operators and owners.
