The countdown to former US President Donald Trump’s impeachment day has officially begun.

This follows house impeachment managers delivering an article of impeachment against Trump to the Senate for trial, on accusations of inciting the deadly January 6 attack on the Capitol Building in Washington DC, by a mob of his supporters.

On the 6th of this month, Trump gave a speech to his supports, telling them to march to the capitol and fight for what they want.

This is Trump’s second impeachment after he won the first a couple of days ago.

Senate Democratic and Republican leaders will sit and witness the historic trial, expected to begin on February 8th.

Lead Impeachment Mananger, Johny Raskin says the former president will face his charges.

International Political analyst Wandile Msomi says the Senate needs to secure a two-thirds majority to succeed in the impeachment charge, adding that if they do, Trump could be barred from ever running for public office in the future.
