Power Utility Eskom which remains a burden on the already strained economy will be allocated R136 billion to pay off its debt with a further R88 billion until 2025/26.

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwane says government will continue to support Eskom while it continues to look for other alternatives..

Godon has however made it clear that there will be no more bailouts for other State Owned Entities (SOEs).

Eskom has a debt of about R400 billion and remains a state owned entity that has become the biggest threat to the country’s economy.

Godongwane says government will continue to support Eskom until it becomes financially sustainable during its transition.
