U-Gumede Ufunga Uyagomela Ukulwa eka-Step Aside

Former eThekwini Mayor, Zandile Gumede says she feels vindicated by the branches of the ANC in the eThekwini region.

Gumede has been elected as the new eThekwini regional chairperson, by defeating Thabani Nyawose.

She obtained 210 votes while Nyawose got 181.

The former mayor is currently facing charges of corruption relating to the issuing of a R320-million waste contract, and was forced not to attend the regional conference at the weekend, due to the ANC’s step-aside rule.

Gumede has told the public broadcaster, they will seek to review the ANC’s step aside rule at the ANC elective conference in December, as it is killing the movement.
