Deputy President David Mabuza says as the government they are mindful of the concerns raised by South Africans over undocumented foreign nationals.

Mabuza has answered questions on a range of issues before members of the National Council of Provinces.

His comments follows rising tensions in Gauteng’s Alexandra township, where locals have been chasing away foreign nationals, checking if they are documented and closing down their tuck shops under an operation they started a week ago, Operation Dudula.

Mabuza says they acknowledge that a loophole exists in government but has also raised concerns of South Africans taking the issue of undocumented immigrants into their own hands.
