President Cyril Ramaphosa says leaders must put aside their differences and work together in a spirit of partnership and common purpose.

Ramaphosa had been addressing delegates attending the announcement of the 2021 Local Government election results in Pretoria.

The governing ANC garnered the most support, but saw its national share of the votes fall to less than 50%.

Of the 213 municipalities that parties contested, the ANC achieved a majority in 161, followed by the DA with 13, and the IFP won 10.

Ramaphosa says parties need to strengthen the trust between citizens and elected representatives through competence, integrity, performance and delivery.
