The KZN provincial government has sung praises to the Pietermaritzburg Sergeant who died on duty while searching for three family members.
These family members had drowned in the Msunduzi River in Henley area during the floods in the KZN province.
Different government departments, family and friends gathered at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall on Friday, where Busisiwe Mjwara was laid to rest in a state funeral.
Mjwara (43) who was a member of the Pietermaritzburg Search and Rescue Diving Unit drowned along with her police dog, K9 Leah.
She was airlifted to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
