Government plans to roll out another Vooma vaccination drive next weekend to speed up the vaccination programme.

Minister in the Presidency Mondli Gungubele says three out of every five people aged 50-years and above have now received their Covid-19 jabs.

He says the upcoming Vooma Vaccination weekend is an opportunity for unvaccinated people to join the nation’s fight against Covid-19 by taking the free vaccines at any of the vaccination sites across the country.

In the previous vaccination drive, a total of 353 819 people came out to receive their vaccines, as opposed to the 500 000 government had aimed to vaccinate.

Gungubele says cabinet wants these numbers to be five out of five so the country can reach herd immunity.
