Deputy President, Paul Mashatile, says the national government is in support of projects that will see the building of new cities in the country.
Mashatile has been leading an oversight visit in both the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality and uMgungundlovu District Municipality, to engage with various stakeholders in sectors.
The Deputy President, alongside the Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube, Ministers, and MECs have also visited the Ntshongweni Catalytic Project site, where a smart city is being constructed between Durban and Pietermaritzburg.
Mashatile says building new cities will not only ease the population in big cities but will bring work opportunities closer to the people.
