Auditor-General Tsakani Maluleke has called on auditors and accounting professionals to monitor public finance in order to ensure that wasteful expenditure that does not benefit the public is highlighted.

Maluleke has been addressing auditors and accounting professionals at the Southern African Institute of Government Auditors virtual conference.

She says that she believes that people ought to build that data and they need to start by restoring trust in the country, adding that they need to act in the public’s interest and need not abandon their golden goal of living up to that noble aspiration.

Maluleke adds that they need to live up to the expectation that society has on them.
