Cogta MEC in the province Sipho Hlomuka has commended disaster management teams for their speedy response to incidents that have struck large parts of KZN since December last year.

So far more than 10 000 people have been affected from 2068 households across the province.

The latest report shows that 24 lives have been lost as a result of weather-related incidents with one person missing.

The estimated cost of the damage currently stands at R3.2 billion.
