The battle for the ownership of Manchester United has become a little more cloudy in recent weeks with speculation the Glazers could stay. Two bids have now taken center stage, Sheikh Jassim, who wants a full takeover, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe/Ineos, who wants to take over the Glazers’ majority stake.
The Qatari bid, led by Sheikh Jassim, promised that their offer is ‘completely debt free’ and they want United to become ‘the greatest football club in the world’ during their stewardship of the club.
Both initial offers are said to be under the Glazers £6 billion asking price, but there is optimism that a ‘broad compromise’ could be struck by late April. According to Skysport reporter Kaveh Solhekol, the Qataris will walk away from their bid to buy Manchester United if the price is not right.
