The National Union of Mineworkers (NUMSA) has vowed to represent all their members should Eskom management decide to take legal action against striking workers.

On Friday, Eskom CEO Andre De Reyter said the power utility will take disciplinary action against workers who embarked on an unlawful strike.

He confirmed that 90% of workers at three power plants are still absent.

Workers are demanding a wage increased from 8% to 12%, however Eskom is putting 7% on the table.

According to Eskom, the high levels of staff absenteeism is the cause of the persisting loadshedding in the country.

NUM General Secretary William Mabapa elaborates.
