Newly sworn in US President Joe Biden’s administration has described the World Health Organization as an entity critical to coordinating the international response to COVID-19.

The comment followed Biden’s move soon after being sworn in as the 46th US President, to sign a record 17 executive orders reversing decisions made by his predecessor Donald Trump, one of which was halting the country’s withdrawal from the WHO.

Other orders include those on immigration, Climate Change and the economy.

Infectious Diseases expert in the Biden administration says the US will continue working with the WHO and the global community in fighting COVID-19 and other diseases.
