Power Utility Eskom has announced that it will be implementing stage 2 load shedding from 11 this until Monday.
It says it will be cutting off electricity as it battles a shortage of generation capacity following overnight breakdowns of two more generating units.
Eskom says it used significant amounts of emergency generating reserves over the weekend.
Those reserves have now been depleted and the utility urgently needs to replenish them.
Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha says they will use the period of load shedding to replenish the emergency generation reserves.
