The man accused of setting parts of the National Assembly on fire has decided to go on a hunger strike while awaiting his application to be concluded.

Zandile Mafe appeared shortly in court today facing a charge of arson, while a number of other charges were added to his charge sheet while inside court.

His lawyer Luvuyo Godla has accused the National Prosecuting Authority of keeping vital information from the defence team, including that he has been taken for mental evaluation without a lwayer present.

Godla says Mafe is adamant that he is mentally fit and wants justice to be served.
