Former Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) Executive Manager has been convicted of fraud charges.

Daniel Mthimkhulu was charged with nine counts of fraud for misrepresenting his qualifications at the Johannesburg Specialised Commercial Crimes Court

Mthimkhulu claimed to have a master’s degree from Wits University as well as a doctorate in engineering management from University in Germany.

He was the head engineer when Prasa bought trains that were unsuitable for South Africa’s rail network.

NPA spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane, says Mthimkhulu’s misrepresentation of his qualifications led to big annual salary increases.
