What are Businesses Expecting from the Mid-Term Budget Speech?

Business Leadership SA (BLSA)  says they want to hear more on how government plans to deal with the unstable economic situation instead of spending more on crumbling SOEs when the finance minister delivers his budget this afternoon.

Minister Enoch Gondongwana will give his maiden medium-term budget speech as the country’s Finance Minister today.

There are high expectation from this mini budget, as it will pave the way for his February’s budget statement.

BLSA’s Busi Mavuso says as business, they expect the minister to be tough on his decisions because that is the only way to achieve fiscal sustainability.

He adds that it’s about time for Treasury stops bailing out state-owned enterprises and work on their recovery.
