Messaging service WhatsApp was down in several countries including South Africa.
People have taken to social media complaining that they cannot send or receive messages or photos.
According to the real-time monitor Downdetector, it started noticing disruptions in the early hours of this morning.
There has been no official comment from the company.
WhatsApp is owned by Meta, the US-headquartered company that also owns Facebook and Instagram and has over 2 billion users.
