WHO confirms over 200 Covid-19 vaccines are in clinical and pre-clinical testing

The World Health Organisation says almost 200 coronavirus vaccines are currently in clinical and pre-clinical testing.
There are more than 963-thousand Covid-19 deaths globally.
WHO director-general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, says the overarching goal of the Covax facility that has been launched is to ensure that all countries have access to vaccines at the same time, and that priority is given to those most at risk, including health workers:

Meanwhile South Africa’s known new Covid-19 death toll over the Health Department’s latest reporting period stands at 39.
North West reported 16 new fatalities, while nine people succumbed to the virus in both Gauteng and the Eastern Cape.
Four people died in the Western Cape and one in KwaZulu-Natal.
There were 725 confirmed new infections. The cumulative death toll stands at 15-thousand-992 and infections have risen to almost 662-thousand.
