Mamelodi Sundowns are out of 2022-23 CAF Champions League after defending champions Wydad AC of Morocco earned a 2-2 second leg draw to advance on the away goal rule.

Sundowns regained the lead in the 79th minute when Peter Shalulile scored a goal, restoring their hope of securing their place in the final. Wydad Casablanca demonstrated their resilience and determination, with Mothobi Mvala scoring once again in the 83rd minute.

During the game, both teams failed to create many clear-cut chances until the second half of the game. It was Mamelodi Sundowns who struck first, with Themba Zwane finding the back of the net in the 50th minute. Nevertheless, Wydad quickly responded, as Ayoub El Amloud equalized just 12 minutes later.

The Moroccan club will now face off against Al Ahly of Egypt in a highly anticipated final between two North African powerhouses.
