The Young Communist League has called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to institute an inquest into the murder of Chris Hani, in order to uncover the masterminds behind the murder.

The comment follows the Constitutional Court’s decision which ruled that Hani’s killer Janus Walus should be granted parole and released in no more than 10 days.

Walus is serving a life sentence for the 1993 murder of the SACP leader Hani, at his Boksburg home in Gauteng.

Since being incarcerated 29 years ago, he has remained mum on the details and specifics of the murder and has never revealed who hired him to shoot and kill Hani.

YCL National Secretary, Tinyiko Ntini, says if President Ramaphosa institutes an inquest, then the country would have a chance at finding out who else was involved in this crime that changed the country.
