Youth Development Conference Underway

KwaZulu-Natal Social Development MEC, Nonhlanhla Khoza, says there is a need for change of focus to rescue youth from chains of poverty and unemployment.

Khoza had been speaking at the opening of the three-day sitting of the National Youth Development Forum (NYDF) in Hilton, outside Pietermaritzburg.

The NYDF is a consultative forum made up of youth coordinators from all provinces.

They are in the province to deliberate on National Youth Policy issues, develop strategies to respond to challenges faced by young people in the country and conduct site visits to Youth Development projects in KZN, to benchmark on Department best practices.

Khoza says her department is working diligently to stem the tide of unemployment by ensuring that many young people are enrolled to youth academies or centres.
