KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala has applauded the community of Phoenix and surrounding areas North of Durban, for having established peace initiative organizations following the killing of scores of African people in the area.

Speaking after embarking on a 3km peace walk with some members of his cabinet and community members, Zikalala says racial divisions take the province backwards.

He says the violence that took place in Phoenix in July, can not happen again.

Zikalala adds that the law must prevail and harshly punish all those who were involved in killing innocent people in this area.

He says all those found guilty should never be allowed to go unpunished, adding that no matter who they are and where they may be coming from and whatever their skin color is, they should face the consequences of their actions.
