KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Sihle Zikalala, has made changes to his Excutive Council.
Member of the Provincial Legislature, Ntuthuko Mbongiseni ‘Jomo’ Sibiya, who is chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Education, will become Member of the Executive Council and take over as the new MEC for Public Works and Human Settlements.
The current MEC for Public Works and Human Settlements, Peggy Nkonyeni, will assume the position of MEC for Transport Community Safety and Liaison.
This follows the passing of Transport Community Safety and Liaison MEC, Bheki Ntuli in January this year, which left a vacancy in the Provincial Executive Council.
Education MEC, Kwazi Mshengu, was then deployed to act as MEC for this portfolio.
The MECs were sworn in by KZN Deputy Judge President, Justice Madondo, in Pietermaritzburg on Tuesday afternoon.
Premier Zikalala has welcomed Sibiya into the KZN Provincial Executive and also wished the MECs well in their new responsibilities.
