KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Sihle Zikalala, has expressed concern about various forms of behaviour that indicate a high level of complacency when it comes to adherence to COVID-19 safety regulations.
Zikalala had been briefing media on the province’s COVID-19 response together with health MEC Nomagugu Simelane.
He says the province continues to rank second highest in Coronavirus cases and fourth highest in terms of related fatalities, following Eastern Cape, Gauteng, and Western Cape.
Zikalala says far too many people seem to have lowered their guard.
Zikalala adds that they’re confident that with the help of communities and healthcare workers they will meet their provincial vaccination targets.
He says it is vital for all citizens to be registered on the electronic EVDS system for their vaccination.
