Njabs was born and raised in Ladysmith and moved to Johannesburg at the age of 16 to study Psychology at Wits. She comes from a loving home environment and although her primary caregiver was her mother, she had a solid relationship with her father as well.
She comes from a big family and she is the 6th out of 8 children. One thing many people may not know about Njabs is that she is a bookworm and a gym rat who values family over everything. When asked if she had super powers what would they be and she said “To know what people are thinking as well as the power to stop bad things from happening to people.”
At the core of her being, Njabs is a communicator. Her driving force is the need to inform people of what is happening in the world, “At any given point, people need to be able to make sound choices through information they receive about what’s going on socially, politically etc.”
Njabs is very passionate about fitness and the trends around it, food and unearthing new eating spots, natural hair care and literacy in the black community.
She admires Anele Mdoda because she has worked hard over the years to hone her craft as a broadcaster and is now one of the most successful female broadcasters occupying radio, television and social media spaces.
Originally Njabs submitted her demo to Gagasi FM in 2011 seeking an on-air internship in order to complete her Radio Production qualification. Unfortunately she did not get a response at that time, but almost a year and a half later, she got a call from Mzokoloko who had received her demo from the then programmes manager, Vukile Zondi.
At that time she was working at YFM as a junior Marketing Co-ordinator. A month after Mzokoloko called, she resigned at YFM, relocated to Durban and started producing Midday Madness with Mzokoloko. Njabs’ highlight of her career was getting nominated for an MTN Radio Award in 2015 in the Best Content Producer category as well as being recognised by the 2017 Liberty Radio Awards as a Bright Star in the industry.
