Hawks head Godfrey Lebeya says cash-in-transit heists are still a major problem for the country, as this type of crime continues to criple the economy.
Lebeya has told a media briefing in Pretoria, that despite the many challenges in fighting cash heists, police are doing commendable work.
He says the Hawks in collaboration with private organisations are continuing to strengthen the fight against these crimes.
Lebeya says for the third quarter of the 2023/2024 financial year, 55 arrests have been effected and there are five convictions secured so far.
