The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) says it is satisfied with the past weekend’s voter registration, which saw young people between the ages 16 and 29, turn up in their numbers.
A total of 78.3 % of newly registered voters fall in this category.
IEC chief executive officer Sy Mamabolo has told a media briefing that they had a great turnout.
He says KwaZulu Natal, Gauteng, and the Western Cape had the most new registrations, adding that the voters roll now stands at 26,8 million.
