Lusanda Mnqayi: from rising star to being on the Gagasi FM 2024/25 season on air line-up

As Gagasi FM, we take pride in grooming talent and have become a leading force in the world of broadcasting, making us the #1 Regional Commercial Radio station to date. On the 19th of July 2023, we announced the #GFMRisingStar Presenter Search campaign, seeking the best talent. Fast forward to 2024, Lusanda ‘Lusdia’ Mnqayi 23, who was among the top 5 finalists, has officially been announced as the on-air talent from the Gagasi FM Rising Star. Lusanda will host Massive Weekend on Saturdays from 1am to 4am and Early Risers on Saturdays from 4am to 6am. With her radio broadcasting experience, we believe she will excel in her new role. In her excitement, Lusanda said,

“When the time is right, I, the Lord, will make it happen.” – Isaiah 60:22.

She is A qualified and experienced Performing artist with exceptional skills in screen acting, Voice acting, TV & Radio presenting.

“I have a powerful ability of listening and obeying director’s instructions, understanding the story-line and delivering high standard performance.”

All in all radio is her ultimate number #1 priority and that’s a career field where she can express her creativity and passion.

We sat down with Lusanda, for a brief chat and this is what she had to say: 

1. Firstly, how does it feel to officially join the undisputed, #1 Regional Commercial Radio station in South Africa?

I feel incredibly honoured and thrilled to officially join Gagasi FM. It’s an exciting opportunity as it is a well-established radio station.

2. What inspired you to pursue a career in radio?

My passion for storytelling and connecting with people through the power of audio inspired me to pursue a career in radio. I love the ability to engage, entertain, and inform through this medium.

3. What is the most exciting part about joining Gagasi FM?

The most exciting part about joining Gagasi FM is the chance to be part of a dynamic team that’s dedicated to delivering top-notch content to our listeners. The energy and enthusiasm here are contagious!

4. Let’s throwback to the #GFMRisingStar presenter search, can you share a memorable experience or story related to this journey?

Participating in the #GFMRisingStar presenter search was an incredible journey filled with memorable moments. One standout experience was connecting with fellow aspiring presenters and learning from each other’s unique perspectives.

5. As an official on-air Gagasi FM presenter, what will you do to stay motivated and productive?

As an official on-air Gagasi FM presenter, I’ll stay motivated and productive by continuously seeking inspiration from my surroundings, staying connected with our listeners, and setting achievable goals to keep pushing myself and my brand forward.

6. What are your BEST key qualities or skills which you know you excel in?

My best qualities and skills include my ability to engage with diverse audiences, my adaptability to different topics and formats, and my commitment to delivering quality content consistently.

7. The biggest question is, what can KZN look forward to in terms of your show, what are you bringing to the table?

KZN can look forward to an engaging and entertaining shows that bring a fresh perspective, great music, and lively discussions to the airwaves. I aim to connect deeply with our audience, reflecting their interests and concerns while keeping them entertained.

8. What does your creative process look like?

My creative process involves a combination of research, brainstorming, and experimentation. I draw inspiration from various sources, including current events, listener feedback, and personal experiences, to craft compelling content that resonates with our audience.

9. Any last words for your FANS, listeners who are highly anticipating your show?
