Multi award-winning Afrosoul powerhouse Sjava has once again delivered a soul-stirring body of work with the release of his highly anticipated Inkanyezi 2.0 Live EP, out today (5 September) across all major streaming platforms.
This follows the success of Inkanyezi (Live), released in January, which captured the intimacy and raw power of Sjava’s theatre-style performances. The first instalment, a tightly curated 40-minute set, distilled the essence of his artistry into five live renditions: “Kuye,” “Sleepover,” “Madibuseng,” “Uyena,” and “Indoda Enjani.” Fans and critics alike praised its authenticity and the rare opportunity to experience the depth of Sjava’s voice in its most unfiltered form.
With Inkanyezi 2.0, Sjava continues this journey, expanding the narrative and emotional resonance that has defined the Inkanyezi era. Recorded during two unforgettable performances at the Joburg Theatre on 15 and 16 August 2025, the new five-track project immerses listeners in the very heartbeat of his live shows. Each note, ad-lib, and crowd reaction carries the intimacy of being in the room, shrinking the distance between artist and audience.
“The first Inkanyezi was a glimpse of what performing live means to me. This time I wanted to bring even more: more emotion, more energy, and more of that powerful connection we feel when the music lives between us in the moment,” said Sjava.
A Project of Light and Legacy
The title Inkanyezi—which translates to “a star”—embodies themes of light, hope, and spiritual reflection. Sjava channels this energy throughout the EP, cementing his role not just as a musician but as a storyteller who uplifts, heals, and inspires.
The project also features powerful collaborations that enrich its textures:
- Shwi, the legendary maskandi icon, reunites with Sjava following their celebrated collaboration “Ithuna” from his platinum-selling album Isibuko.
- Zadok, acclaimed producer and artist, adds his signature artistry, deepening the sonic palette of the live recordings.
The Inkanyezi era has proven to be more than music—it has become a cultural moment. The original live EP reached significant streaming milestones, with some recordings achieving triple-platinum status, reflecting the hunger of fans for Sjava’s distinctive live storytelling. Media houses and fans alike have chronicled this movement, celebrating his ability to merge authenticity with mass appeal.

The Inkanyezi 2.0 Live EP is now officially available worldwide across all major digital streaming platforms. Fans can stream the project here: https://africori.to/inkanyezi2.
