South African Comedian Trevor Noah Celebrates His Grammy Award Nomination
Written by Brooklyn Masuku on 14 November, 2023
Earlier last week, the Recording Academy unveiled its annual GRAMMY-Award nominations, celebrating Music’s Biggest Night. While nearly all of the nominees celebrate this year’s biggest musical achievements, there are a few categories that celebrate the more niche audio achievements. One of the categories we’d like to put the spotlight on is the Best Comedy Album category.
The primarily sole comedy category at the music dominated award show celebrates the best “artistic achievements in comedy” and also “recognizes excellence in comedy recordings, including spoken word, stand-up comedy and musical/novelty recordings.”
The mission of the Recording Academy is to recognize excellence in the recording arts and sciences, cultivate the well-being of the music community, and ensure that music remains an indelible part of our culture.

This journey called life never ceases to amaze and inspire me. I love stand up comedy because I cherish nothing more than making people feel good or bringing a smile to someone’s face. To be nominated for a Grammy is a blessing and honour I never expect and truly cherish with all my heart. Thank you to every single one of you who’s been in the audience for these shows, without you there would literally be no show.
The South-African comedian, podcaster & former Daily Show host, Trevor Noah, has been making comedy fans laugh through his on point delivery, impressions, & relatable sense of humor for years now. His latest special, I Wish You Would, is no exception to that.
In Noah’s latest special, “Emmy-winning comedian talks learning German, speaking ill of the dead, judging people in horror movies and ordering Indian food in Scotland.”
This year marks Noah’s second nomination in the Best Comedy Album category. His first nomination was for his first Netflix special, Son of Patricia (2019).
