Royal AM coach John Maduka believes the pressure will be on AmaZulu FC when the two teams meet at the King Zwelithini Stadium for a round of 32 Nedbank Cup clash on Thursday. The KZN teams will be meeting for the third time this season having already completed their two rounds of league fixtures.
Usuthu have been the superior side in their meetings this campaign, playing a goalless draw in their opening match of the season that was followed by a 3-0 drubbing of Maduka’s boys at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in December last year. Both sides stumbled at the start of 2024 with the resumption of league action after the AFCON break. Royal AM was held to a goalless draw by Kaizer Chiefs in Pietermarizburg with Usuthu suffering a 3-1 beating by bottom side Cape Town Spurs in the Mother City.
Maduka says the Nedbank Cup will be a whole new ball game, and will provide a different motivation for his players compared to the two league matches they lost. The Malawian tactician firmly believes the pressure will be on Pablo Franco and his troops to continue with their good form against Thwihli thwahla this season.
