Orlando Pirates coach Abdelslam Ouaddou has backed his side to bounce back after stumbling in their Betway Premiership opener. The Bucaneers were stunned by Sekhukhune United at Orlando Stadium, as Babina Noko walked away as 1-0 victors in a hotly contest match. Siphesihle Mkhize scored the only goal of the encounter early in the second half, as Sekhukhune joined AmaZulu FC, Marumo Gallants and Siwelele FC as winners in the opening day of the league campaign.

It was a disappointing night for the Bucaneers who were searching for the perfect start to their campaign as they look to challenge Mamelodi Sundowns for the league title. The Sea Robbers failed to gain an early advantage over their title rivals after Sundowns were held by Chippa United to a 1-1 draw in Gqeberha a few hours before the Orlando Stadium clash.

The Moroccan coach believes it is not all doom and gloom for his side after just one league match, and backs the them to bounce back due to the quality they possess.

“It doesn’t give me another picture of my team, of my boys we have quality I still say it,” said Ouaddou in the post-match press conference.

“There is a lot of work everytime especially when you have a lot of players a lot of new players, of course there is a lot of work to do. I keep believing on these players we have quality, we start bad this PSL but believe me that it’s only the beginning and we will come back.”
