Some celebrations echo beyond the night they’re held and they capture years of artistry, dedication and the collective pride of a nation. That was the sentiment reflected across social media this week as Arthur Mafokate took to Instagram to honour a lineup of influential figures recognised at The Legends Awards 2025.

Arthur Mafokate’s heartfelt tribute on Instagram became a powerful reminder of why South African excellence continues to shine through generations. The music pioneer took a moment to celebrate the achievements of several remarkable figures, with one name standing out being Thembi Seete, honoured as the Youth Inspiration Legend 2025. His words were clear and sincere: “A woman of many talents — song, stage and screen — and an example to all who follow. Congratulations.” The tribute was part of a broader acknowledgment of South Africans whose work, resilience, and influence have built a foundation for generations to come.

For Arthur Mafokate, this celebration wasn’t just about accolades, but about legacy. Reflecting on the growth of The Legends Awards and A Night with Legends, he expressed gratitude for how the vision has evolved. He wrote “This year proved that the vision works. Sold-out shows. A nation watching. Generations united under one roof — artists, athletes, entrepreneurs, and dreamers all recognised on one stage”. He also added, “We are the Home of Legends,” his message affirmed, capturing the soul of what the movement represents.

In the same spirit of gratitude, Thembi Seete took to her own platform to share her emotions after receiving the honour. “Honoured. Humbled. Grateful. 🙏🏾✨” she added, “Receiving the Legend Award feels surreal a moment I’ll cherish forever. Every step of my journey, every stage, every season has led to this”. She began, describing the recognition as a surreal moment she’ll cherish forever. With heartfelt sincerity, she thanked the Legend Awards team, Mafokate, SABC2, sponsors and everyone who believed in her.

Her message carried warmth beyond personal triumph. She extended appreciation to fellow honourees and among them were Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Professor Thuli Madonsela, Gcina Mhlophe, David Tlale, Leleti Khumalo, and Dr. Pitika Ntuli. calling it an “incredible honour to be celebrated alongside you all.”

Through both messages, Arthur Mafokate’s and Thembi Seete’s words aligned to celebrate more than achievement, but they reflected a collective pride in South African talent and a renewed appreciation for those whose work continues to move the nation forward.
