South African national football team, Bafana Bafana have booked their spot in the last 16 of the 2023 African Cup of Nations after a 0-0 draw against Tunisia. Bafana needed a win or a draw to advance to the next round in their Group E last match.
Bafana finished the group as the runners-up with four points behind Mali, while Namibia are in pole position of securing qualification as one of the third best teams. Bafana coach Hugo Broos decided to name an unchanged team that started against the Namibians which saw an all Mamelodi Sundowns defence.
Meanwhile, Morocco’s win over Tanzania also meant that hosts Ivory Coast sneaked into the knockout stages as the final of the four best third-placed teams and will now face defending champions Senegal in the Last 16.
In the next round, Bafana will meet Morocco in the knockout round match on Tuesday January 30 at 22h00.
