EThekwini Municipality has confirmed that 22 of its 23 beaches have been found to be safe for swimming after rigorous water quality testing.

This is after closing several beaches earlier this year due to high levels of E. coli.

The municipality’s spokesperson, Gugu Sisilana, says only the Reunion Beach near Isiphingo south of Durban remains closed, while the temporary closure of Warner and Winkelspruit beaches is due to high tides, not water quality.
